I am Serbian born, Canadian artist living and working in Vancouver. My interest in art is based on women's representation and identity. Presently, I explore the idea of close cropping and reworking female bodies chosen from historical art references, early modernist influences, surrealist photographers, or silent movies.  My goal is to dislocate the subject from specific function or histories to produce new meaning while my painting practice is grounded in appropriation tactics. Images are chosen intuitively, based on feelings they produce and how they trigger my imagination. Through soft and painterly brushwork, I draw attention to the construction and materiality of the paint and ambiguity of the subjects.
